Reflexology

Being a fully accredited Jayarani Way (Gentle Birth Practitioner) and a Birth Doula. http;//www.jeyarani.com I have worked with hundreds of pregnant mums and seen many physical, emotional and mental changes that can happen during all stages of pregnancy.

Each system of your body is working extremely hard to accommodate your beautiful growing baby, Internal organs can become tired, overworked and sluggish and in need of some calming, balancing or a little boost,

I have seen the astounding effects reflexology has on pregnant mums. How nurtured they feel, how relaxed they become. Creating a harmonious peaceful environment for which baby can grow. Happy mummy, happy baby.

Regular reflexology treatments can help restore balance within your body and help prepare you for these changes. It can also help you to view your pregnancy in a more positive way by reinforcing your self confidence and encouraging a sense of wellbeing.

Reflexology can help to ease the following symptoms of pregnancy:

  • Nausea, and heartburn

  • Fluid retention/ oedema in hands and feet.

  • Anxiety, stress and insomnia

  • Backache

  • Blood pressure regulation

  • Muscular fatigue and tension

  • Constipation or any other change in bowl movement

  • Hemorrhoids

  • Urinary tract problems

  • Inflexibility of the pelvic floor

  • Symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD)

Research done by Dr. Gowri Motha, has shown that women who have regular reflexology treatments during pregnancy are more likely to have a shortened labour and may require less pain relief.

Preparation for Labour.

As a Reflexologist and `Birth Doula I have attended many home births and hospital births. Each birth was very different and beautiful in its own way. I have huge empathy and understanding to each and every mum I work with.

How can reflexology help

As the final stages approaches, the body starts to release a beautiful cocktail of birthing hormones, each hormone has an important role to play before and throughout the birthing process. Sometimes these can be disrupted by stress hormones which in turn can delay the onset of labour.

Reflexology can help by encouraging the body to excrete the feel good hormones for eg. oxytocin (the hormone that makes your uterus contract).

As your reflexologist I will concentrate on all the areas that are most needed in preparation for the birthing process.

When your mind and body are relaxed then amazing things can happen.
